Interreligious Dialogue is “an integral part of the mission of the Church”. This reflection emerged from the Vatican II council (1962-65). Along the years, many still find it difficult to fully understand this mission of the Church. Often, it is taken as an answer of complete in a word and in some specific areas in Mindanao because of the long conflict affecting Muslim-Christian relation. The Emmaus College of Theology, Major in Interreligious Dialogue is a new beginning in the Church to reaffirm the importance of Interreligious Dialogue in all its aspects. We already presented a news report about this new beginning, but now we are ready to present the official brochure of the Emmaus College of Theology. We are happy that providentially, this new beginning coincides with the year of Interreligious Dialogue, Ecumenism and Indigenous Peoples promoted by the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines. The brochure presents the Background, Vision, Mission, Goal and Objectives of this new college.
The BEGINNING
The idea to establish the Emmaus College of Theology Foundation Incorporated started from a deep concern of Fr. Sebastiano D’Ambra, PIME, on the formation and vocation of the young Catholics with the hope to prepare a new generation of leaders in the Catholic Church. On July 8, 2019, the SEC issued the certificate of incorporation to the Emmaus College of Theology Foundation Incorporated, and on September 10, 2019, CHED IX office issued a government permit no. 001 series of 2020 granting the Emmaus College of Theology Foundation Incorporated to open and conduct the first and second year levels of the course on Bachelor of Science in Theology, major in Interreligious Dialogue starting August, first semester of school year 2020 – 2021.
