The Harmony Chain Initiative is part of the continuous effort of Silsilah Dialogue Movement to promote dialogue and peace starting from a spiritual approach. Since the beginning in the year 1984, the first group of Muslims and Christians has taken the commitment to pray for peace which we still continue to do so every day in many possible ways. Since the beginning in the year 1984, the first group of Muslims and Christians has taken the commitment to pray for peace which we still continue to do so every day in many possible ways. In the year 2000 when an all-out war was declared by then President Estrada, Silsilah was challenged to spread the prayer for peace throughout the Philippines through the Harmony Chain Initiative. We are celebrating this year the 15th anniversary of this initiative and we are launching it in many ways possible. The harmony chain initiative is for all although Silsilah started it. Today, we have many around the world and in the Philippines who are following this initiative. We are happy to inform you that the new central coordinator of Harmony Chain Initiative is Ms. Elizabeth Solis, EDC. She is a member of Emmaus Dialogue Community, a lay consecrated organization and a part of Silsilah Dialogue Movement. She has finished her studies in Bachelor of Science in Midwifery and now she accepted the challenge of being the coordinator of this effort. One of her responsibilities is to be in-charge of the initiative’s Facebook page. We hope that you can be a part of this initiative which is recommended by many Muslim and Christian leaders and other organizations around the world. In the past, we have been contacting our friends and members through a newsletter entitled, “In-Touch.” But now, we decided to be in contact with them through our Facebook page. We encourage you to open our Facebook page, Facebook.com/harmonychain and website; www.harmonylink.info.You will find there the Harmony Chain Initiative and the harmony prayer in many languages. On a regular basis, we will update you with information and testimonies from around the world where this Harmony chain Initiative is spread. We also encourage those who wish to do more to express their initiative to become the Harmony Link Coordinator of a country, a city, a school, a parish, a mosque, a group, etc. Here, we present the testimony of Giovanna Di Vita from Rome, Italy who committed herself to be one of the link persons in Italy. Few days ago, she wrote us:
“I love the Harmony Prayer and I’m doing my best to spread this initiative for peace in the world living a life-in-dialogue. The meditation of Harmony Prayer can help people to understand that peace is first of all a gift from God and we have to ask this gift always to be able to achieve peace. We have to consider humanity as wounded and conflicts are part of this situation. Violence linked to religious fundamentalism appears more visible now. The situation brings humanity in a stage of attack and defense. This violence is like a mirror that projects the enemy outside this is also fruit of the lack of dialogue inside us. I feel that the harmony prayer and the meditation of this prayer can be a great contribution to transform my life-in-dialogue and to reach the real peace inside and outside me. It reminds me that diversity is positive like the harmony among different notes that can bring the real peace. Guided by this experience, I’m promoting this prayer. I already have printed thousands of copies of this prayer. I have distributed them to friends and those who request it in churches, religious communities and conventions with a theme connected to Inter-Religious Dialogue. It was also distributed during the occasion of visitation to the Grand Mosque and Synagogue in Rome where people of other faiths converge. I also give the prayer to people whom I met in my daily encounter on the road, public areas, clinic of doctors, hospitals, etc. I hope that this prayer will open the hearts of people I meet. Every occasion is good to share about the Harmony Prayer and Silsilah Dialogue Movement as prophetic signs in our time. I’m grateful to Fr. Sebastiano and to all those around the world who are committed to Silsilah Dialogue Movement and spread the Harmony Prayer.”
This testimony from Italy is a new voice to make the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Harmony Chain Initiative more meaningful and, hopefully, will help many to imitate the example done by our link person Giovanna Di Vita.
